House Fire on Allison Road

April 18, 2017

On Tuesday, at just about noon, The Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on Allison Road. While still enroute, Car 2211 (Chief Pappas) was updated by Bedford Police confirming active fire. With this, 2211 requested his 10-75 (working structure fire) assignment, bringing in mutual aid tankers from Goldens Bridge, South Salem, Bedford Hills and Croton Falls as well as a FASTeam from Mt Kisco. An additional ladder company (TL-57) was requested as well. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy fire through the roof and, just prior to making entry, there was a collapse in the rear. The decision was made to fight the fire from the outside and crews deployed numerous handlines to extinguish the fire. TL-57 set up it's ladder and attacked the fire from above. Due to the heavy fire load, additional tankers from Somers and Yorktown were called to the scene. The fire took about 2 hours to bring under control and units operated until around 4:00.

The department would like to thank all of the mutual aid companies for their assistance with a special thanks to Yorktown Fire Department and Armonk Fire Department for covering our district during the operation.
