By Chief of Department Dean W. Pappas
February 15, 2018

Katonah Fire Department was dispatched at about 7 a.m. today to a report of burning primary electrical wires against a tree on Cherry Street.Upon arrival, Car 2211 noticed active fire in the tree, caused by the primary wire rubbing against it. Engine 117 arrived on scene and proceeded to direct traffic on Cherry Street safely past the scene. The wire had burned about a third of the way through the tree by the time NYSEG arrived, and they determined that it posed a danger of collapse across the road. A tree service was called to cut the tree while NYSEG dealt with the burning primary wire. Cherry Street was closed between Route 35 and Whitlockville Road during this time. Katonah units cleared the scene once the wire was made safe. Cherry Street remained closed with signs posted by the Town of Bedford.

Units: Car 2211, Engine 117, Utility 8
