Train in the Rain

Because fire alarms don't always occur when it's daylight, warm and sunny, KFD members trained in last night's rain on aerial ladder operations. Following an inside presentation on both ground and aerial ladders, members went outside to train with Ladder 39. Led by Captains Matt Jeffries and John Whalen, along with Lieutenant Kate Hallex and Lieutenant Brian Cohen, members went through the setup of the aerial, the positioning of it, and then, when the ladder was extended to the roof, members learned how to harness themselves safely to the aerial and climb to the roof of fire headquarters, where officers went over roof operations. The evolution provided valuable training for both interior- and exterior-rated firefighters.
