KFD members trained on ground ladders during Monday night's drill at our training tower. Members reviewed the types of ground ladders that are stored on Ladder 39, and then, under the guidance of Captain John Whalen, Lt. Mike Lehrer and veteran FF's Brian Lehrer, Jason Valvano, Josh Corsino and Bill Hassett, newer members practiced carrying, raising, extending, climbing, lowering and stowing various extension and roof ladders. They also learned about using a leg lock to secure themselves to the ladder while operating equipment, and safe ways to carry equipment and roof ladders up the extension ladders.
