Katonah Firefighters responded to over 20 separate incidents during the weekend's Nor' Easter. Most of the calls involved checking downed power lines, either due to high wind gusts or falling trees. However, there was also a rollover accident on the Saw Mill River Parkway during the early part of the storm, and some fallen utility poles and fallen trees blocking various roads. Several of the calls involved trees falling on, and affecting electric service to individual homes. In each case, KFD members checked to make sure that there was no active fire or risk of a fire, and secured the scenes, notifying NYSEG for repairs. KFD members went on stand by at about 11:30 a.m. and remained on stand by until 10 p.m. Friday, and were responding to various followup calls on Saturday. Additionally, the firehouse opened as a warming center for individuals who lost power.
