Katonah Fire Department was incredibly busy during the recent Winter Storm Quinn, responding to dozens of alarms over several days. We usually record between 25 and 35 responses per month. Between March 1 and March 9, Katonah Fire Department has responded to 33 different alarms, most related to the storms. So we have already exceeded our typical monthly total. Many of the calls involved dealing with downed power lines, trees blocking roads, trees on power lines, burning utility poles, carbon monoxide incidents, and water conditions. There were also several mutual aid calls and a reported structure fire at the height of last Wednesday's storm. In every case, KFD members, many of whom stood by at fire headquarters, responded and successfully dealt with each alarm. Below are photos from various incidents we covered during the storm.
