Two Cars Give Their All for Training Purposes

Two donated vehicles, including one donated by a KFD member, were used for valuable hands-on training by our members on Monday evening. One vehicle was first used for motor vehicle accident stabilization and extrication training, using Rescue 17's cutter and spreaders. Then, that car and a previously donated car were set on fire for additional firefighting training using Engine 117 and Engine 115. These kinds of drills, using multiple apparatus, give our newer members solid training on firefighting and rescue techniques, while also allowing more veteran members to receive training on apparatus equipment operation and pumping operations. In addition, this training places our line officers and training officers in the position of serving as mentors and teachers to the newer members as they learn the skills necessary to function as a solid firefighting and rescue team.
