Snow Plow Fire Ties Up Jay Street During AM Rush

Katonah Fire Department was dispatched at around 8 a.m. today to Jay Street near the Harvey School main entrance on a report of a snow plow on fire. Engine 115, Tanker 6 and Engine 116 responded. Upon arrival on scene, Engine 115 reported a fully involved snow plow fire. Its crew, assisted by Tanker 6 and Engine 116 crews, attacked the fire and had it under control in about 15 minutes. It took an additional 20 minutes of overhaul and cleanup. The occupants of the snow plow were able to get out safely and appeared to be uninjured. Units were operating for approximately one hour total. Jay Street was closed in both directions while the fire was extinguished.
