On Thursday afternoon, September 18, Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment building on the 100 block of Cedar Lane for a reported stove fire. Upon arrival, the fire had been extinguished, but the apartment had a very heavy smoke condition. Engine 115 arrived on scene, and the crew immediately began ventilation operations. Utility 8 was also called out with an additional fan to assist with ventilation. In addition, the crew checked the apartments above the fire apartment for residual smoke and carbon monoxide readings. Fortunately, none were found. A blender that was on the stove top melted when the stove was accidentally turned on. Physical damage was confined to the stove top and the blender.
