At approximately 1145 today, Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of a fuel spill. A tanker truck was delivering fuel to the Sunoco gas station at the corner of Huntville Road and Bedford Road and during the delivery process a fuel leak occurred , resulting in an approximately 15-20 gallon fuel spill across Bedford Rd. Rescue 17, Engine 115, and Ladder 39, along with Car 2213 responded. Car 2213 requested the response of the NYC DEP Hazardous Materials Team due to the proximity of the reservoir and waterways that discharge to it. KFD Units assisted with stopping the spill and preventing it from extending. There is no cause for concern; it is believed the fuel did not make it to the water. NYC DEP will continue to monitor the water and the Westchester County Health Department will also be following up. A private environmental clean up contractor also responded to the scene to clean up the area.
