Today at around 5 p.m., Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Route 35 at North Salem Road. Car 2212, Car 2213, Rescue 17 and Engine 115 responded. Car 2212 arrived on scene and reported two vehicles involved, one being hit in the rear while the other ended up against the guardrail. One patient was transported by Katonah-Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. KFD personnel assisted with the scene and with traffic control, as the accident caused extensive backups on Route 35 in both directions. While operating at the accident scene, Katonah Fire Department received a second call, on Old Cross River Road, where a residential alarm had been activated. Car 2213 and Engine 115 responded to that alarm while car 2212 and Rescue 17 remained at the accident scene. The residential alarm turned out to be a false alarm. Katonah FD cleared both scenes at about 5:50 p.m.
