Monday night, KFD members braved the muggy weather to train on large diameter hose lines. In many cases, inch-and-three-quarter pre-connected hose lines are used to extinguish residential and car fires. However, for larger commercial buildings, such as the DeCicco supermarket and other businesses in town and along the Route 117 bypass, larger diameter two-and-a-half inch hose lines are better because they provide a much greater volume of water. The issue, of course, is that these hose lines are heavier and harder to move when filled with water. So Monday's drill focused on techniques to control the charged lines and advance them effectively. Engine 115 and Tanker 6 were used to provide water, and member split into four-person teams to practice various evolutions using the two-and-a-half-inch lines.
