Katonah Fire Department was dispatched Saturday afternoon at around 2:30 p.m. on a report of a tractor on fire in the shed behind a structure on Meadow Lane. While apparatus was enroute, Car 2031 (Bedford HIlls Fire Department) happened to be driving by in the area and reported the shed was fully involved and that it was spreading to the structure. Car 2211 immediately called for a 10-75, resulting in mutual aid from Bedford Hills, Bedford Village, and Mount Kisco being dispatched to the scene. KFD's Engine 116 arrived on scene, positioned itself so that Ladder 39 could get in the driveway, and its crew immediately deployed two inch-and-three-quarter pre-connected hose lines to attack the blaze. One line was stretched to the rear of the house while the other was stretched inside the front door. After a while, a third line was deployed as a safety line. Meanwhile, Ladder 39 arrived on scene, and parked in the driveway. Its crew immediately went to work assisting Engine 116. Engine 115 and Engine 117 arrived soon after and their crews went to work as well. Tower Ladder 57 from Bedford Hills, along with Engine 198, arrived to render assistance and Mount Kisco Fire Department's FAST team was also on scene. Crews knocked down the fire fairly quickly, preventing the blaze from fully extending to the house. Fortunately, there were no injuries. After about an hour and a half of operating, the scene was turned over to the homeowner and all fire units were back in service. KFD wishes to thank the mutual aid agencies who assisted us at this fire, and a Special thanks to Somers FD and Goldens Bridge FD who covered our district.
