Hoseline Advance Drill on a Rainy Night
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Ex Chief Dean W. Pappas
October 7, 2019

Monday night's weekly training focused on hose line advancement--getting a pre-connected hose line into a structure and hitting the fire. Crews practiced dragging a charged inch-and-three-quarter hose line into the firehouse and around a course delineated by cones. After advancing approximately 150 feet, the crews then trained the nozzle of the hose at a simulated fire. Upon arriving at a fire, it's vital to get the hose line off the truck and advanced into the house as quickly as possible in order to knock down a fire before it has a chance to spread. Several evolutions were completed, using Engine 117 as a source pumper.

Units: Engine 117
