Open House is a Huge Success!

Crowds of people came out for KFD's annual Open House for Fire Prevention Week today. They could shoot a fire hose, use a fire extinguisher, take a tour through our smoke-filled training tower, check out our cutter and spreader on our Rescue 17, and check out tons of fire prevention information and souvenirs inside our fire house. There was also a station where participants could try on fire fighting gear and tools, and we were selling t-shirts for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in November. Of course, there was a long line for fire truck rides as well, and Engine 115, Engine 116 and Engine117 were kept busy taking crowds of people around town with lights and sirens! The highlight of the day was the burning of a "kitchen" structure that we built on our training pad, lit on fire, and then extinguished in front of a very appreciative audience. Click on the video link above the photos to see. We were so glad to see so many people enjoying themselves today and we hope to see you again on our Chili Night, scheduled for Saturday, November 11! Thanks again for all of your support!
