Continuing a great tradition, the Katonah Fire Department teamed up with Katonah's American Legion for the annual Memorial Day commemoration. Accompanied by Katonah-Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, and with music provided by The Tappan Zee Bridgemen band, Katonah Fire Department members and local veterans marched through town to Lawrence Circle. A ceremony was held there including an invocation from a local priest, speeches, the playing of the Star Spangled Banner, a Wreath Laying, and the playing of Taps. The beautiful day brought out a large crowd along the parade route and at the ceremony. Following the ceremony at Lawrence circle, the procession marched back to fire headquarters where a wreath was laid at our fire bell which honors Katonah Firefighters who were killed in action. Following the ceremonies ice cream was provided behind fire headquarters. The members always appreciate seeing so many turn out for Katonah's Memorial Day activities.
