| On Tuesday, April 22nd around 1600 hours, Katonah Fire was dispatch to an Occupied Multiple Dwelling on Parkway for a strong odor of gas in the residence. Car 2213 (Asst. Chief Corsino) was first to arrive on scene and reported a strong odor with an unknown occupancy. Car 2212 (Asst. Chief Pappas) and Engine 115 arrived on scene and Car 2212 assumed command. Engine 115's crew began searching for the source of the odor while stretching a precautionary handline. Ladder 39 arrived and positioned on the D side for possible aerial operations.
The source was determined to be an active gas leak in one of the apartments. The leak was isolated and the building was vented. Due to the high readings of gas, 2212 requested EMS to respond for evaluation of an occupant.
After Con Ed arrived and secured the utilities, Katonah Fire returned to service after operating approximately 2 hours. |
