Katonah Firefighters interrupted their Labor Day holiday to respond to three calls almost in a row in our district. At about 1245 p.m., the volunteers were dispatched to a motor vehicle vs pedestrian call in the Katonah Shopping Center. Rescue 17 and 2214 responded. Fortunately, the injuries to the pedestrian appeared minor and were handled by WEMS and Katonah-Bedford Hills Ambulance Corps. No sooner had Katonah units cleared that scene at 1 p.m. when they were called to Leslie Lane, on the far side of the district, for an activated fire alarm. Engine 116, Ladder 39, Tanker 6, Car 2213 and Car 2214 all responded. Upon arrival, a thorough search of the house was conducted. The homeowner was contacted and, after making sure there was no hazard, KFD turned the scene over to the homeowner. Units were back in service by 2 p.m. Then, at 2:30 p.m., KFD was once again dispatched, this time, to a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on I-684 southbound under the Route 35 overpass. Rescue 17, Engine 117, Car 2212 and Car 2214 all responded. The rider suffered non life threatening injuries and was transported by KBHVAC. KFD units performed traffic control, and also assisted EMS. Units were clear by 3 p.m.
