Multi Agency Response for Odor of Burning

This evening at about 9 p.m., Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial alarm at a home on Cantitoe Street. Cars 2211, 2212, 2213, Engine 116, Ladder 39 and Tanker 6 responded. Upon arrival, Car 2213 reported an odor of burning in the structure on the third floor. The alarm was upgraded due to this odor, and Car 2211 requested a mutual aid engine from Bedford Village Fire Department. As a precaution, members from Bedford Hills Fire Department were put on stand by in their quarters should more manpower be needed at the scene or should another alarm come in for Katonah's district. KFD's Engine 116 arrived on scene and its crew began a search of the structure along with crews from other arriving apparatus. After an extensive search, the odor of burning was determined to be related to a clogged dryer vent. The issue was remedied and units were back in service by about 10:30 p.m. We'd like to thank Bedford Village FD for its assistance at the scene, and Bedford Hills FD for standing by.
