Katonah Fire Department held its 2019 Inspection on Saturday night. This year, the dinner was dedicated to the memory of Chief James Fayette Lawrence, who died on October 6, 1959 and who remains the only member of Katonah Fire Department to have given his life in the line of duty. The inspection is an annual event where visiting departments inspect the host department's apparatus, personnel, and then attend a formal dinner where various individuals are recognized for their contributions throughout the year. This year, badges for 50 years of service to Katonah Fire Department were given to members Mickey Hayes and Christopher Harmon. Badges for 25 years of service to Katonah Fire Department were given to members Davide Palmerini, Chris Marinaro, Sue Bergson, and Teresa O'Hagan. In the Special Awards category, Firefighter of the Year was given to Tom Connolly, and the Michael J. Vuotto Distinguished Service Award was given to Sergeant Scott Whalen. In the cleanest apparatus contest, third place went to Tanker 6, second place went to Engine 117, and first place went to Rescue 17. The dinner was catered by the Farmer and the Fish Restaurant of Purdys. The Katonah Fire Department and the Katonah Fire District wish to thank our neighboring departments for attending and sharing a night of fellowship with us!
