Late Thursday evening, Katonah Fire Department was dispatched for a reported motor vehicle fire on I-684 SB south of Jay Street. Engine 115 and Tanker 6, along with Car 2211, were soon enroute. Units were informed that the vehicle was a car carrier, with six cars on its trailer, and the trailer was fully involved. Car 2211 requested Bedford Hills FD's Tanker 5 to the scene to support KFD. Upon arrival, two hose lines were stretched providing both water and foam. Units were operating for about an hour on the interstate. As the scene was being brought under control, it was reported that Somers FD had a working structure fire. Tanker 6 broke off from the vehicle fire scene and went mutual aid to Somers, while Engine 115 remained on scene to assist New York State Police. All Katonah units were back in service from both incidents by 0120. KFD extends its thanks to Bedford Hills for its assistance at the vehicle fire.
