Monday night's weekly training focused on Tanker operations, as two-thirds of the Katonah Fire District is located outside of working fire hydrants. Tanker 6 dropped its pond and siphoned water from it, sending the water through a five-inch supply line to Engine 116, which in turn supplied Engine 117's deck gun. The drill simulated a tanker shuttle evolution, where rotating tanker trucks would dump their water into Tanker 6's pond, thus keeping a steady supply of water for Tanker 6 to draw on,and then supply to the engines fighting the fire. The operation involves a lot of moving parts, coordinating the water supply with three different pieces of apparatus, and the drill provided some valuable training for the members.
