Katonah Fire Department members came out in force Saturday afternoon, responding to a reported chimney fire. Cars 2211, 2212, & 2213 along with Engine 116, Engine 115, and Engine 117 responded. Crews made entry and thoroughly checked the house, while Engine 117's crew set up the nearby fire hydrant. A boiler issue was venting excessive smoke out of the chimney, mimicking the appearance of a chimney fire. The home's occupants were advised to call for boiler service. After checking the home for carbon monoxide, which is common with malfunctioning heating equipment, KFD units returned to headquarters. Upon returning, department members followed recently-enacted coronavirus cleaning procedures put in place to protect the members, their families, and the public we come in contact with.
