Friday evening at about 7:30, Katonah Fire Department's Ladder 39 was dispatched mutual aid to Bedford Village on a report of an odor of burning and an inside haze at a house on Deepwood Road. Ladder 39 arrived on scene and the aerial was raised to the 3rd story of the structure, while Ladder 39's crew assisted Bedford Village firefighters in searching the house for the source of the burning odor and haze. The cause was traced to a mishap with the home's fireplace and fortunately, there was no fire. As Ladder 39 was operating in Bedford Village, Mount Kisco Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire in its district, and requested Katonah's Engine 115 to relocate to its Green Street Headquarters. Engine 115 stood by for about a half hour there, along with Yorktown Fire Department, while Mount Kisco dealt with the reported fire, which turned out to be a towel burning atop a light fixture. KFD units were released from both incidents and were back in service by about 9 PM.
