As the area hunkered down for the major nor' easter, Katonah Firefighters met at 9 AM on Monday in order to put tire chains on Rescue 17 and Engine 115. It's a good thing we did, as Rescue 17 was dispatched at around 3 PM for a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Harris Road and Adams Street. Along with Car 2212, Rescue 17 responded and its crew, operating in blizzard conditions, established a safe zone for KBHVAC's ambulance to operate in, while also directing traffic as road conditions continued to rapidly deteriorate. Fortunately, there were only minor injuries in the accident, and Katonah units were back in service after operating for about 45 minutes.
