Katonah volunteers were dispatched at around 6 AM Tuesday morning to a motor vehicle accident on I-684 Northbound just south of Exit 6. Rescue 17, Engine 115, Car 2212, and Car 2213 responded just as an early morning heavy snowstorm was gaining in intensity. Units arrived on scene to find a car flipped on its side and wedged against a tree. While damage was significant, the occupant was able to self-extricate and was checked out by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Rescue 17 and Engine 115 established a safe zone behind the ambulance, and later behind the tow trucks, which removed the vehicle after about 40 minutes. Units were on scene for about an hour. All lanes of the interstate were reopened by about 7 AM.
