At 9:45pm, KFD was dispatched to a reported chimney fire on Almar Lane. In sub-freezing temperatures, firefighters had to stretch a three inch line down the driveway from the roadway. The driveway, about 200 yards from the roadway, was too narrow for E115 to fit. With all factors in mind, firefighters attached an apartment pack of 1 3/4 inch line to the 3 inch line using an appliance. The line was stretched onto the roof where the chimney was located. A chimney nozzle was attached to the hose line and lowered down the chimney to suppress the fire. Firefighters used ground ladders to access the roof from the rear of the structure. After an hour and a half of operations, the fire was extinguished. It was determined that debris in the firebox was the contributing factor to the cause of the fire. The fire did not extend to the house itself. Units were back in service by 11:00pm.
