On Thursday night, just before the start of Katonah Fire Department's annual meeting, the department was dispatched on back-to-back calls. The first call came in at about 7:30 PM and was a reported outside gas investigation at Katonah-Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps Headquarters on Bedford Road. Car 2212, Engine 116, Ladder 39 and Engine 115 all responded. A check of the headquarter's interior revealed no elevated gas readings, and it was determined that the leak was minor and confined to the exterior gas meter. The scene was turned over to KBHVAC personnel to await Con Ed. As apparatus was picking up from that call, a commercial alarm was received at the Harvey School on Jay Street, in one of the dorms. All apparatus from the first call responded, and were joined by Car 2211, Tanker 6 and Engine 117. Upon arrival, a check of the dorm was done. The reason for the alarm could not be determined, but it was successfully reset and Katonah units were back in service.
