One of the storied traditions shut down in 2020 due to COVID restrictions was the annual town Firefighter's Parade. Starting in March or April, towns across the country began holding parades featuring their volunteer firefighters and the fire apparatus marching down a main street, fronted by bands playing patriotic songs. Friendly competitions were held, with each fire department, musical unit, or EMS agency vying for a host of trophies, and the bragging rights that followed. Finally, after over a year of silent streets, the parade season for Katonah Fire Department returned with firefighters, along with our 1928 American LaFrance "Mary-Anne", Rescue 17, Engine 117, Car 2211, Car 2212, and Car 2213 participating in Mount Kisco's parade Friday evening, July 9. KFD proudly brought home the "Best Regulation Uniform" and "Best Color Guard" trophies, to add to a trophy collection that reflects over 100 years of parade tradition. We were glad to help Mount Kisco celebrate the return of the summer time parade season, and we're looking forward to making a great impression at South Salem Fire Department's parade in August!
