Katonah Fire Department has been busily scheduling a series of inter-agency drills with our other two Town of Bedford fire departments. As each department relies on the others for mutual aid, this kind of joint training enhances inter-agency efficiency while building on the skill sets of individual firefighters. Monday night, the joint training was with Bedford Village Fire Department. Several cars were taken apart by firefighters using cutters, Jaws of Life, and other tools carried on both KFD's Rescue 17 and BVFD's Rescue 44. An upcoming joint drill will focus on car fires, using the same cars that were used for Monday's vehicle extrication drill.
