At approximately 5:11pm KFD volunteers were dispatched to 292 Katonah Ave (Goldberg’s Bagels) for a fire alarm. Cars 2212, 2213 and Engine 116 were enroute shortly after dispatch. While units were enroute, 60 Control advised of a 911 call reporting smoke at the building. Upon the arrival of Engine 116 they located heavy smoke from the roof and the front door. Due to the business being closed for the day, crews had to force entry in to the business. 116’s crew made quick entry with a hoseline through the front door and was able to control the fire and keep it isolated to the business of origin. Ladder 39’s crew went to work laddering the building, overhaul and ventilation. Remaining business were checked for further smoke/fire due to a shared cockloft. Fortunately there was no extension of fire and only smoke conditions in multiple businesses. The Westchester County Department of Health responded to the scene to work with the restaurants on how to safely reopen.

There were no injuries during the incident and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature.
