16th Battalion Hosts Ice Rescue Drill in Armonk

February 28, 2015

Katonah's Rescue 17 participated in a multi-agency ice rescue drill in Armonk on Saturday, February 28. Members were able to use KFD's new ice rescue suits and other ice rescue equipment to go through the process of safely setting up and carrying out an ice rescue. These drills are especially vital as most northern and central Westchester County Fire Departments are in close proximity to an extensive reservoir system that provides drinking water to the county and to New York City. Participating KFD members included Kate Hallex, Thomas Nardi, Hank Tschorn, and Mike Lehrer. A special thanks to Battalion 16 (John Marshall), and the Armonk Fire Department for their assistance in organizing an excellent drill.
