Early Sunday morning, Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Route 35 near the Town of Bedford Water Filtration Plant. A pickup truck had gone off the road, skidded against guardrails and ended up hitting a tree, causing the tree to block part of the road. Rescue 17 and Engine 115, along with Car 2212, responded. Also responding were Bedford Police, WEMS, Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corp, NYC DEP Police, and NY State DOT. Because the vehicle was leaking fuel, a precautionary charged hose line was stretched from Engine 115 while a tow company worked to remove the vehicle from both the guardrail and the tree. Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle was not injured. Units were on scene about an hour and a half, as the vehicle was removed and the fallen tree was cleared from the road.
