| Carbon monoxide incidents are usually associated with colder weather, when homes are sealed up and furnaces run a lot more. However, on Friday evening at about 9:30 PM, KFD volunteers, along with Katonah-Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Bedford PD and Westchester Emergency Medical Services, were dispatched to a carbon monoxide incident, with symptoms, at a cottage on Bedford Road. Engine 116, Ladder 39, and Rescue 17, along with Car 2211, Car 2212, and Car 2213 were the KFD units that responded to the call. The cottage's occupant reported eye irritation, along with other symptoms. Upon making entry to the cottage, elevated CO levels were detected. The cottage's water heater was turned off and ventilation fans were used to bring down the CO levels while KBHVAC and WEMS personnel checked the cottage's occupant. Units were on scene for a little over an hour. |
