On April 30, Somers Fire Department invited area fire agencies to participate in a multi-agency tanker shuttle drill. As many areas in this part of the Hudson Valley do not have fire hydrants, volunteers at the fire departments serving these areas train constantly with their tanker apparatus, focusing on maintaining a steady supply of water at a fire scene by shuttling water from ponds and other natural water sources to the fire scene. KFD's Tanker 6, with a 3,500 gallon water capacity, was one of 18 tanker trucks to participate in the drill. It is always great to take advantage of opportunities to work with our neighbors on such essential firefighting skills. We extend our thanks to Somers Volunteer FD for organizing this evolution.
