| This past weekend members of the public, neighboring fire and EMS agencies, and fire equipment buffs from all over the region converged on Katonah Fire Department's Headquarters Saturday for a traditional "wet down" of our new Pierce Enforcer Rescue 17. Equipped with the latest rescue equipment, from struts, to rope rescue gear, to battery powered cutters, spreaders, rams and saws, the new rescue is able to respond to a wide variety of rescue-related calls. Its numerous multi-use capabilities make it an extremely essential addition to the KFD fleet. It replaced the 1999 Pierce Rescue, which was sold late last year to another fire department in Nebraska. Saturday's event involved allowing visitors to look at and climb into the new truck, followed by the truck being parked on the front apron, where kids took turns spraying a hose and wetting down the new truck. The ceremony concluded with KFD members teaming up to "push" the Rescue back into the firehouse (aided in some small part by the truck being placed in reverse gear). All told, it was a great traditional way to welcome our newest apparatus to our lineup. We would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the event. We would also like to give a special thank you our sponsors: |
