| Although the rainy weather canceled the annual Memorial Day Parade, a well-attended solemn ceremony took place on the apron of Katonah Fire Department Headquarters on Memorial Day. In partnership with American Legion Post 1575, Katonah Fire Department honored those who gave their lives for their country, whether it be on the battlefield or in training. A wreath was placed at the Katonah Fire Department fire bell and speeches were given by members of the American Legion. Afterwards, following tradition, everyone was treated to free ice cream in back of fire department headquarters. Katonah Fire Department extends its thanks to the American Legion and to the Tappan Zee Bridgemen Band for its rendering of The Star Spangled Banner and Taps during the ceremony. |
