On Monday, November 2, Katonah Fire Department members participated in a training scenario where two victims were on the third floor of the training tower, the tower was filled with smoke, and crews had to advance their way up to the third floor. In each scenario, a rescue crew and a hose line crew were assigned to gain entry via a forced entry simulator, enter the smoke-filled tower on the first floor, negotiate around various obstacles while wearing SCBA, and locate the victims on the third floor. The hose line crew used a charged line to suppress a simulated fire while the search and rescue crew located the victims. The victims were evacuated via Ladder 39, which extended to the upper floors, and via a second ground ladder that was set up as a safety exit and backup ladder.
