At about 2 PM today, Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car fire on I-684 North. Because the exact location had not been determined, 60-Control also dispatched Golden's Bridge Fire Department. Both agencies responded and found the vehicle just south of the Route 138 overpass, fully involved. Katonah's Engine 115 arrived and deployed a pre-connected inch-and-three-quarter line to begin fighting the fire. KFD Tanker 6 also arrived to provide additional water, if needed. Golden's Bridge's Engine 140 and Tanker 1 also arrived on scene and provided support. GBFD Car 2141 (command) was joined by KFD Cars 2212 and 2213, who lent their assistance to 115's crew in fighting the fire. Crews were operating for about an hour, causing significant traffic backups on I-684 North. No one was injured and the roadway was reopened by about 3 PM.
