At approximately 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, the Katonah Fire Department, along with KBHVAC, was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident reported as a “white mini bus overturned with possible extrication.” While en route, responding units were advised there were five patients in the bus, with two having self-extricated and three still trapped inside.
Upon arrival, Rescue 17 closed the ramp at Exit 6. Crews quickly went to work, successfully extricating the remaining three patients and stabilizing the bus.
Engine 115 maintained the road closure during operations. The incident involved two vehicles. A small transport bus and a compact SUV. In total, six patients were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles were removed by tow, and once the scene was cleared, all units returned to service and Exit 6 was reopened at 5:40 p.m.
