| During the 7th Inning Stretch at Thursday night's Yankees game against the White Sox, long time Katonah Fire Department member Art Hanley was honored as the team's "Veteran of the Game". Instead of going to a commercial break, the Yankees remain on the air and announce the recipient of the honor and "God Bless America" is sung.
Art is a 50-plus year member and Ex-Captain of Katonah Fire Department and a Life Member of the Katonah-Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He is a long-time member of the Brewster Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 672, serving multiple times as Post Commander. He is also known for owning Healy's Deli in Katonah and for working at its successor, the Wooden Nickel Deli.
Art's wartime service involved serving as an Electronic Warfare Specialist in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Congratulations Art! |
