This evening KFD volunteers along with volunteers from Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps handled a multi vehicle accident with multiple injured parties on I-684 in the area of the SMRP. It’s reported that a New York State Department of Transportation H.E.L.P. truck was stationary on the shoulder assisting a disabled van when another vehicle struck the HELP truck and the disabled vehicle. 4 patients were transported to various hospitals with apparent non-life threatening injuries.
This is a reminder of NYS Move Over Law which requires motorists to use due care when approaching stopped emergency or hazard vehicle with warning lights activated. The law also says if it’s a multi lane roadway you must move from the lane immediately adjacent to the emergency vehicle.
