At 1248 PM on New Year's Eve, Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on I-684 south near mile marker 18. Rescue 17, Engine 115, Car 2212 and Car 2213 all responded. As units were responding, Golden's Bridge Fire Department was also dispatched, as the accident occurred in its fire district. Both agencies arrived on scene and immediately established a safe zone and traffic control, while EMS workers assessed the drivers. Fortunately, there appeared to be only minor injuries. However, traffic on I-684 south was backed up almost to Route 116 as a result. Units were operating on the scene for about an hour, and the roadway was cleared at about 1345.
