A report of smoke in the structure across the street from fire headquarters fortunately turned out to be an issue with a fireplace. Katonah firefighters responded to the call on Bedford Road at about 9:45 PM, Sunday night, with Engine 116, Ladder 39, Utility 8, Car 2212, and Car 2213 responding. Crews carefully checked the home and the fireplaces, using water cans to extinguish the fire between the floors and chimney, and chimney kit buckets to remove ashes from the house. There was no damage to the house and units were back in service by 10:30 PM.
