May 14, 2021

A brush fire along the side of the road on Route 35 near Mount Holly Road was extinguished Thursday afternoon. Katonah firefighters were dispatched to the call at about 5:45 PM. Car 2213 arrived on scene and reported an active brush fire along the slope of a hill overlooking Route 35. Engine 117, Tanker 6, and Engine 116 soon arrived on scene, and crews went to work, extinguishing the fire and checking for hot spots. Units were on scene for about an hour, making sure the area was thoroughly wet down in order to prevent a rekindle later. Route 35 was closed in both directions while crews were operating.

Units: Car 2213, Engine 117, Tanker 6, Engine 116

Mutual Aid: Tanker 5 (BHFD) dispatched and then returned
