By Ex Chief Dean W. Pappas
November 21, 2021

At about 10:30 PM, Katonah Fire Department was dispatched to Beaver Dam Road on a report of a transformer explosion. Cars 2212 and 2213, along with Engine 117 and Utility 8, responded to the area. Car 2213 reported a tree down across Beaver Dam Road with wires down. Meanwhile, Engine 117 arrived at the intersection of Harris Road and Beaver Dam Road to find a downed power line across from the sewage treatment plant, with an active brush fire. New York State Electric and Gas arrived on scene soon after to deactivate the downed lines, allowing KFD personnel to extinguish the brush fire and cool down the area with water. Units were back in service by about 11:55 PM.
