48-Star Flag that Flew at KFD During WW 2 Returned to Firehouse

The Fire Department received a memorable gift recently when the original 48 star flag that flew in front of Fire Department headquarters during World War II was found in the basement of a former member and was subsequently given back to the Firehouse by the Amrhein and Metzger families. Frank Amrhein was a KFD member. Clark Associates funeral home created a beautiful display case for the flag, which will now be displayed proudly at Fire headquarters.
This photo is a copy of the minutes of the Katonah Fire Department from October 13, 1942 recording that the membership voted to have the flag flying in front of headquarters for the duration of World War II
