By Ex Chief Dean W. Pappas
April 19, 2026

Our members spent most of the day this past Saturday, familiarizing themselves with the various struts, chains, cribbing, cutting tools, ratchet straps and other equipment on our new Rescue truck. Instructors from Signal 73 Fire Training of Wallingford, CT, were on hand to instruct, demonstrate, and assist our members with learning the correct and safe way to best use the equipment. Members rotated through various motor vehicle accident scenarios, using donated cars. The training lasted from 0900 to 1600 and was extremely comprehensive and detailed. Afterwards, Rescue 17 was "officially" put into service for Katonah Fire Department. Katonah Fire Department extends its thanks to the Signal 73 trainers who provided such a comprehensive and effective training for our members.

Units: Rescue 17, Engine 115
